My thesis ·
Good management has homework every quarter
Current view, written after the position snapshot above.
Traditional banks do not own their customers forever. I back SoFi's management to keep winning more of that relationship: get the customer, give them reasons to stay, earn more of their business.
“Good management” still has homework. Quarterly revenue growth. More customers and products. Stronger earnings. Credit losses under control. Sensible dilution.
Rates matter, but they cannot become the excuse for every red candle.
In the 9 October book, I held 8,500 shares. I am holding and collecting premium while I wait. The business must keep earning that patience. Calls can cap a recovery; short puts can add shares. Premium does not erase the downside.
My fresh-entry preference is still a strong chart near recent highs; holding through a pullback is a separate decision.

SOFI 8,500 held, 15.86 → 15.65, cost 18.31. Still not looking down. Still selling premium to buy time. Oct 23 15.5 and 16 calls stacked on the Oct 09/16 book. The stock can sit. The overlay pays the wait.

SOFI 8,500 shares held, 16.77 → 15.86, cost 18.31, unrealized −20,790 USD. Not looking down. Not adding stock. Sold more premium to buy time: Oct 02/09/16 calls now at 16 / 16.5 / 17.5 / 18, plus Oct 16 16 puts (−5). The stock can sit. The overlay pays the wait.

SOFI down to 16.77 from 18+. Added 2,000 shares at the dip. Position now 8,500 at 18.31 average cost. Thesis unchanged: consumer fintech with bank charter, 8M+ members, EBITDA-positive since Q3 2023, trading 1.2x P/B. Used the weakness to scale in. Sold Oct 02/09/16 calls (strikes at 17) to minimize downside risk and generate income. Not adding more after this tranche — will let the calls cap upside and wait for price to recover.
